Installation - APPro5000/5003

APPro5000 firmware for devices based on Atheros AR531x / 4 MB flash / 16 MB RAM (min.)

Supported devices:

  • AirLive WLA-5000 V2 and V3;
  • RDAA-81, CA-8Pro, and compatible.

Web upgrade firmware

These files can be uploaded via APPro5000's Web interface. Web upgrades can be uploaded to any device with APPro5000 software installed. You can also downgrade firmware to older version, however you should not downgrade RDAA-81 or CA-8Pro devices to firmware older than 27.03.2008rev278.

Note: this firmware requires presence of an APPro5000 module in the AP. Installing this software without module will render AP device unusable and will require a recovery procedure via serial console.

Preinstall firmware

These files can be uploaded to the AP devices via standard Web interface (as any other regular firmware upgrade).

 Note: These preinstall files contain firmware that does not require presence of an APPro5000 hardware module in the AP. Preinstall files for devices with APPro5000 hardware module are moved to archive (see 'Other versions' link).

 Recovery procedure

To reinstall original firmware on your device, you need a serial interface with TTL level converter (from -12 / +12 V to 0 / 3.3 V), and a TFTP server running on machine with IP address configured to 192.168.1.254.

  • put original firmware file to TFTP server's upload directory, and name it 'zImage';
  • set up your terminal program to 115200 kbps / 8N1, and power up the AP;
  • when bootloader's menu shows, select option 2, and wait until the firmware will be uploaded and programmed into flash memory.

Note: There's work in progress on a special recovery firmware similar to one prepared for APPro54G. This firmware will enable to recover original firmware on devices with damaged LAN ports, but operational radio interface. Currently this firmware has low priority, but with more user input we will speed-up release of this firmware.
