New version of APPro5000/5003 firmware

The latest version of our firmware for 5 GHz devices is available for download. The software contains multiple improvements based on user requests and suggestions. We encourage users to install this update, and to discuss the latest release on our forum.

Before updating the firmware, we recommend disabling of following features:

• WPA/WPA2 encryption,
• firewall,
• traffic manager,
• Wireless Access Control,
• also, select driver version madwifi-r1751.

After successful update needed features can be re-enabled. We recommend driver version madwifi-r2565-hal-0.9.30.13-ap43. Changelog:

• hostapd updated to version 0.5.10;
• fixed WPA and WPA2 encryption in AP mode;
• removing unused modules in order to free resources (load_modules.sh);
• added WDS Multipoint Bridge mode (for up to 16 stations);
• fixed Client Traffic Statistics;
• Traffic Statistics now are saved in flash memory;
• improved udp/icmp packet filtering;
• due to performance requirements, firewall needs to be enabled for proper operation of NETBIOS FILTERING option;
• added user-selection of madwifi module; available options:
  • madwifi-r1751-hal-0.9.18.0-ap31,
  • madwifi-r1751-hal-0.9.18.0-ap43,
  • madwifi-r2565-hal-0.9.30.13-ap43 (recommended).
• added support for Interference Mitigation (Ambiet Noise Immunity);
• fixed issues with channel change;
• improved autorate/fixed rate options;
• script qos.sh ported from appro2401;
• reload option replaced with device reboot (reload);
• improved site survey feature (survey);
• for AP mode extra VAP is created that operates in sta mode;
• for STA mode a VAP is used that operates in sta mode;
• multiple improvements in scripts and GUI - detailed list available on demand.

NOTE: WDS Multipoint Bridge and other bridge modes should be employed only for connections with third-party devices, that do not support transparent APC mode and have to use WDS mode. In case of APPro5000/5003 devices we recommend Access Point -- Transparent Client modes, even for p2p connections. Reason for that is lower performance of WDS connection (a result of how WDS is operating) than AP-APC connection.
